I found this article in one of Shamcey's fan page in Facebook. She wrote this article to show her support to Ms.Universe Philippines and I really admire how proud she is as a Filipina.
With Zandra Digma's permission, i will share this article to you guys...
WHY DO I HAVE TO WASTE MY TIME VOTING FOR MS. PHILIPPINES?
By Zandra Digma
“I don’t understand why you need to take a leave again wasting your time to vote over and over for your Ms. Philippines!”
This is the reaction of my confused American boss when he learned from my co-employee that I’m taking another day off to spend time voting for Shamcey. Well, he has all the reason to react like that because I must admit that I’ve been totally disengaged with my work since the pageant commenced in Brazil.
I really don’t know why I’ve been acting so weird lately. I think I am becoming a Miss U addict. But I’m not really a pageant-fanatic. I’ve never been one and not even trying to be. In fact, I hate pageantry because of the stereotyping that is commonly associated with it. But there’s really something about our representative this time that I have to force myself to campaign for her here in Singapore and via internet to reach even the farthest place where there are Filipinos.
I want to vote for her because she now becomes an inspiration to many. I think this growing pageant interest in me and in many of us is not just plain “fanaticism” but an avenue to release the frustrations we see in our society. For the longest time, our people have lost their sense of identity. They see themselves as corrupt. They see themselves uncompetitive. We put down on ourselves as people because of so many bad news we see on our daily lives. “Only in the Philippines” sometimes becomes a cynical line to refer to the silliness of our Pinoy experience. But this lady, Shamcey Supsup, out of nowhere suddenly becomes an icon of Filipino pride, hope and determination that we, as Pinoy, can always excel in whatever we want to do in life.
I really want her to win not just to prove to the world that the most beautiful comes from the Philippines, but more importantly to serve as a reminder to our people that we all can be “Ms. Philippines.” Every man and woman of this nation can wear that sash and be proud to tell the world that we can put the name of our country back to the world map because we are Filipinos.
